Warwick Audio Technologies Ltd successfully raised £858k in a second funding round after pitching at two different Connect Midlands events - the Investment Conference in 2008 followed by a Connect Midlands London event with an audience of private investors in July 2009.
The funding came from a syndicate of investors and a further round is expected to be finalised in late 2010.
The loudspeaker technology being developed by the company has advantages for a wide range of products where space or weight is at a premium, such as inside cars or aircraft.
Sound produced by the speakers also has a unique directional quality, which means it will be useful in areas where sound needs to be targeted, such as passenger terminals and railway platforms.
Steve Couchman, CEO of Warwick Audio, said; “This investment puts Warwick Audio Technologies in a really strong position to make the FFL technology a major market success. Already we are having discussions with a range of potential partners representing leading brands, each of whom has seen a different, innovative end use for the product. We believe the potential for growth is enormous.
“In the early stages of the search for investors Connect Midlands was instrumental in raising the profile of the Company within the investment community and preparing the Company for investment events.”
Richard Comer, Regional Manager for Connect Midlands added; “We’ve been very pleased to work with Warwick Audio over a number of years. They exemplify the determination that is needed to bring innovation to market and successfully access investment funding. We wish them all the best as the company moves towards the launch of their product.” |
